Weekend Plans

My fiancé is going back to her hometown for another dress fitting and more wedding stuff. This means it will be Zelda (the puppy) and me this weekend. I'm hoping to be getting some books in the mail tomorrow or Saturday. One of them being My Soul To Take by Rachel Vincent for a book club being held at Forever Endeavor. The discussion starts on Friday, February 25th. And I have a maybe confession to make. This might be the first YA novel I read.

I know, I know. In my defense, I had never heard of the genre as I use to be a strict sci-fi/fantasy kinda guy. It has a lot of elements that I like and some I hate (vampires), so it was just a matter of time before I discovered it. The other book I got was a roleplaying game core rulebook, so I'm going to start writing and running adventures again and you'll have some stories from that I'm sure.

Backup plan is movies. I have a good list of amazing movies I need to watch including Let The Right One In, Oldboy, The Dark Crystal, and a few more on my Netflix queue. I might start writing out some stories as well for my gaming group. None of them read this, so all the better.

Tomorrow, what we learned this week and responses to some comments. I kind of want to tell the story about how I became a vampire now too, any takers?

  1. Hope you enjoy your weekend!! I've got Girl's Night In at my house!!

  2. Just to be clear, you do watch GOOD movies too, once in a while right? I would hate to think that all you do is watch crap movies. Especially if you're paying for netflicks..

and, you hate vampires?! I can understand how one might hate like, the TWILIGHT vamps, but what about TRUE BLOOD. I love it. It's awesome. Have you tried watching that?

  3. No YA...where have you been hiding?

But, I am a total Sci/Fi fan myself and think the pickings are pretty thin in YA for that. So, I would like to write the best sci/fi YA book ever. Maybe the love child of Star Trek and Veronica Mars...yes, I know they are movies and television, but they were stories in someone's head first!

  4. Sweet Netflix queue. Sounds like you've got a great weekend lined up! You should be ordering a bunch of copies of Strange Tales of Horror for your book club... lol! J/K. I don't think they go much for anthologies.

  5. Ooh ouch, there are SO many good fantasy YA books out there (not just vampires). I'm a big fan of YA fantasy, so its hard for me to read adult fantasy although I've done it before. Good luck with your new YA book! I heard its a good one.

  6. Sounds like a fun weekend. What roleplaying book did you get?

  7. Ah yeah nothing like a good lineup on netflix. Sadly I use my xbox more for that than I do games.

  8. Yay for book clubs! ;o)

I'm only halfway through the book, so I can't swear to it 100%, but I'm fairly certain there are no vampires anywhere in this one. So you're safe!

And I may have just smiled at the thought of having a puppy named Zelda. I want to get one and name it Sora.

HI! my name's martina and I come from Italy... i'd like you visit my blog and if you want... follow me! I wait you and your tips!

  10. you didn't know that there was a YA genre? you're funny. a lot of guys like reading sci fi... that's if they're actually into reading. and i don't really know a lot of people that like reading so im suprised that im reading this entry.

anyway... did you ever think of #2 and 3 for your favorites that you listed in my blog!? hehhehe. it's okay if not! i don't really have much favorites either.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on my, well, thoughts.
